was established in 1986 as a charitable Hospital
in association with
The society of St.Vincent De Paul Netherlands
And
The Sight Savers (Royal Common Wealth Society
for the Blind) U.K.
42 million people in this world are blind, In
India there are 13.5 million blind people –
that is almost one third of the total blind in
the world is in India. In other words, every third
blind man in this world will be an Indian.
75% of these blind cases are curable.
It is in this context, that the idea of a charitable
hospital came from our friend Dr.A.Q.C.Van Ruiten,
National President of the Society of St.Vincent
De Paul, Netherlands.
An eye hospital with a missionary spirit-An
eye hospital that would bring the best eye care
for the rich and the poor.
Perumbavoor is only 45 minutes drive from Kochi,
